The Fort Kent Can-Am Dog Sled Race has been a tradition for many generations. Long before the use of snowmobiles, dog sledding began as a means of transportation in winter areas. It only became a sport of interest in the early 20th century.
Today, people come from all around - Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Montana, Canada, Scotland - to participate in the Can-Am.
