Landscape Shifts

The Bay churns
and rolls
so hard
in the storm
that it
begins to froth.

Bubbles
patch
onto
the sandy shoreline,
lapped up
by a wave's tongue
of water
and draw
back
out
again.

Hills
of water-
farther out-
cascade,

diagonally,
toward the dock.

The white foam,
ritual foam,
gather,
separate,
elongate,
like germs
or beings

traveling
a slow,
difficult path

eventually,
finding
this place.
